The composition of benthic communities is a good criterion to estimate water quality. Is this also true of the wet edaphic riparian invertebrates, less directly exposed to the impact of the water? What abiotic factors determine the distribution of species within a hydrosystem? These questions were addressed, using the River Arc and its hydrographic network, subject to various anthropogenic aggressions (urbanization, industry, agriculture) and offering varied hydrochemical situations. The riparian population (158 taxa) was analysed, using Reciprocal Averaging (9 sampling points on the main course and its tributaries). Results show that spatial variation of the edaphic riparian zoocenosis is chiefly determined by the nature of the substratum and, to a lesser extent, by the hydrologic instability of the water course. However, it can respond to some constraints of the environment like benthic macroinvertebrates.  相似文献

Serotonin S2, benzodiazepine, and muscarinic receptors showed different regional distributions in the human brain but were present in all cortical areas. The laminar distributions of [3H]ketanserin, [3H]diazepam, and [3H]quinuclidinylbenzilate were investigated in the temporal cortex and revealed a high density in the IIIrd and IVth layers. Dopamine D2 receptors were not detected in the cortex.  相似文献

The CD8(+)-T-cell response to Moloney murine leukemia virus (M-MuLV)-associated antigens in C57BL/6 mice is directed against an immunodominant gag-encoded epitope (CCLCLTVFL) presented in the context of H-2D(b) and is restricted primarily to cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) expressing the Valpha3.2 and Vbeta5.2 gene segments. We decided to examine the M-MuLV response in congenic C57BL/6 Vbeta(a) mice which are unable to express the dominant Valpha3.2(+) Vbeta5.2(+) T-cell receptor (TCR) due to a large deletion at the TCR locus that includes the Vbeta5.2 gene segment. Interestingly, M-MuLV-immune C57BL/6 Vbeta(a) mice were still able to reject M-MuLV-infected tumor cells and direct ex vivo analysis of peripheral blood lymphocytes from these immune mice revealed a dramatic increase in CD8(+) cells utilizing the same Valpha3.2 gene segment in association with two different Vbeta segments (Vbeta3 and Vbeta17). Surprisingly, all these CTL recognized the same immunodominant M-MuLV gag epitope. Analysis of the TCR repertoire of individual M-MuLV-immune (C57BL/6 x C57BL/6 Vbeta(a))F(1) mice revealed a clear hierarchy in Vbeta utilization, with a preferential usage of the Vbeta17 gene segment, whereas Vbeta3 and especially Vbeta5.2 were used to much lesser extents. Sequencing of TCRalpha- and -beta-chain junctional regions of CTL clones specific for the M-MuLV gag epitope revealed a diverse repertoire of TCRbeta chains in Vbeta(a) mice and a highly restricted TCRbeta-chain repertoire in Vbeta(b) mice, whereas TCRalpha-chain sequences were highly conserved in both cases. Collectively, our data indicate that the H-2D(b)-restricted M-MuLV gag epitope can be recognized in a hierarchal fashion by different Vbeta domains and that the degree of beta-chain diversity varies according to Vbeta utilization.  相似文献

Summary The changes in cell numbers of different thymic cell populations and the conditions governing the regeneration of these populations and the thymus itself were examined after X-irradiation (700 rads) of different parts of the body. The general effects of the irradiation were studied in each experimental group in terms of mortality and growth rate. The particular effects on each thymic cell population were studied by the measurement of mitotic activity and of evaluation of the changes in numbers among these populations in the thymus itself, and were compared with the effects in the granulopoietic layer of the liver and in the spleen. The great reduction in the number of lymphocytes after irradiation demonstrates that they are more radiosensitive than other cell types; this reduction can be compensated for by the arrival of new lymphoid cells originating from other lymphoid organs (if they have been protected from irradiation) and by allowing thymic regeneration. Thus, irradiation has indirect effects on non-irradiated areas, and demonstrates that the lymphoid cell population has a high potential for multidirectional migration.  相似文献

Summary The erythrocytic and liver pyruvate kinases (PK) from a patient with congenital nonspherocytic hemolytic anemia have been studied. In red blood cells, the residual activity, 28% of the normal control, presented normal kinetic properties, instability to heat and urea, and slow electrophoretic mobility. The L-type PK from the patient's liver was characterized by normal activity, kinetic properties, stability to heat and urea, and electrophoretic mobility. The fact that erythrocyte mutant PK may, as in previous reports, or may not be associated, as in the present observation, with molecular abnormalities of the liver PK provides support for the hypothesis of a gene rearrangement compatible with two different tissue-specific mRNAs.  相似文献

Kinetic analyses were performed on the nonphosphorylated and in vitro phosphorylated forms of recombinant Sorghum C4 phospho enolpyruvate carboxylase (C4 PEPC). The native enzyme was purified by immunoaffinity chromatography and its integrity demonstrated by Western blot analyses using anti N- and C-terminus antibodies. At suboptimal pH (7.1 to 7.3) and PEP concentration (2.5 mM), phosphorylation, positive metabolite effectors e.g., glucose-6-phosphate, glycine and dihydroxyacetone-phosphate, or an increase in pH strongly activated the enzyme and lowered the inhibitory effect of L-malate. C4 PEPC phosphorylation strengthened the effect of the positive effectors thereby decreasing further the enzyme's sensitivity to this inhibitor. L-malate also decreased the phosphorylation rate of C4 PEPC, a process antagonized by positive metabolite effectors. This was shown both in vitro, in a reconstituted phosphorylation assay containing the catalytic subunit of a cAMP-dependent protein kinase or the Sorghum leaf PEPC-PK and in situ, during induction of C4 PEPC phosphorylation in mesophyll cell protoplasts.  相似文献

A large body of evidence supports an important role of bone morphogenic proteins (BMPs) pathways in skeletal development in the embryo. BMPs are also involved in skeletal homeostasis and diseases in the adult. They were first identified as major bone anabolic agents and recent advances indicate that they also regulate osteoclastogenesis and joint components via multiple cross-talks with other signaling pathways. This review attempts to integrate these data in the pathogenesis of bone and joints diseases, such as osteoporosis, fracture healing, osteoarthritis, inflammatory arthritis, or bone metastasis. The use of recombinant BMPs in bone tissue engineering and in the treatment of skeletal diseases, or future therapeutic strategies targeting BMPs signal and its regulators, will be discussed based on these considerations.  相似文献

In this paper evidence of anthropogenic influence over the warming of the 20th century is presented and the debate regarding the time-series properties of global temperatures is addressed in depth. The 20th century global temperature simulations produced for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s Fourth Assessment Report and a set of the radiative forcing series used to drive them are analyzed using modern econometric techniques. Results show that both temperatures and radiative forcing series share similar time-series properties and a common nonlinear secular movement. This long-term co-movement is characterized by the existence of time-ordered breaks in the slope of their trend functions. The evidence presented in this paper suggests that while natural forcing factors may help explain the warming of the first part of the century, anthropogenic forcing has been its main driver since the 1970’s. In terms of Article 2 of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, significant anthropogenic interference with the climate system has already occurred and the current climate models are capable of accurately simulating the response of the climate system, even if it consists in a rapid or abrupt change, to changes in external forcing factors. This paper presents a new methodological approach for conducting time-series based attribution studies.  相似文献
